AVA x SAMSUNG
Samsung reached out at the start of 2022, asking if I would be interested in trying out their new Galaxy Tab S8 and to create some content using it.
It's been a while since I've used a tablet with a screen so big, as the last time I think would have been my graphics teachers Wacom Cintique back in 2015.

The device itself was really easy to use, especially for sketching as it feels like using real paper. Before creating the illustration, I hopped on a call with the Samsung creative team to discuss ideas around what to create.
There were a few which we discussed, but the one I was drawn to the most was a 'never ending' illustration, to make the most of the large screen. Something I struggle with as an illustrator is drawing backgrounds, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to do something a little differently.
I have always wanted to draw an apartment block, illustrating various people and activities. But never knew how to do this in my own style.
However I just started to sketch with a rough dry brushes in infinite painter, and the piece started taking form.
To make the most of how vibrant the Tab S8 display is, I chose 2 colours which I always use (pink and yellow) and mixed them with vibrant blues and greens.
Once I'd finished colouring the piece, I felt like it was missing something. Quotes are a huge part of my work, so I decided to add some flags over the banisters and I feel like this brought the piece together perfectly.

The other part of the brief was to create a video, explaining my process along with my thoughts on the Tab S8. And here's the final product below.
